The Data Manager page and enables the results returned by the query to be edited. The considerations and risks that must be understood when editing data directly in the database are listed at the end of this article.
Note: This feature is restricted by role and should be made available to those with advanced knowledge of SQL and data management. dSQL is the modified language that Data Manager uses. For more information on using dSQL, see: Using dSQL in Data Manager
To activate the Data Manger, enable the role EditSqlEditor to allow access to edit SQL table data. For more information on Employee Roles, see: Employees Tutorial > Roles
WARNING! There are risks when updating data directly in the database. Please use extreme caution when using this feature.
Risks and considerations when updating data via the database include:
- Bypassing all field validation such as correct formatting and proper data values
- Any automation that needs to happen such as notifications or additional business logic to be run will not happen
- There is not an option to undo changes
- Not all tables and columns are available to be edited for data integrity purposes
Navigate to: Administration > Data Manager.
Type your dSQL query statement in this text field.
Run Query Button
When clicked, the query in the Query box is ran.
Table Schema Button
When clicked, a searchable list of tables opens in the Table Schema pop-up window.
Note: This features lets you quickly query tables to view only. If you want to edit tables you must write a valid dSQL statement in the Query box.
The Table Schema Pop-up Window
Search for specific table names.
Table Name List
A list of tables that can be queried.
Clicking a table name closes the pop-up window and the table is displayed below the Query box.
Clicking the Close button in the bottom right corner closes the pop-up window without querying a table.
Alternatively, click the X button.
+ New Row Button
Adds a new row to the table.
You can then add data to the table cells. After you make changes, click the checkmark button to confirm, or the X button to cancel.
Delete Row Button
Deletes a selected table row.
Exports the query results in .CSV format.
Editing Table Data
When editing data with the Data Manager, you are editing the live database. Any changes you make to a table should be preceded with exporting the table using the Export button.
Use the Query box to run a valid dSQL query. The results will show below.
Click a cell to edit the data.
After you make changes, click the checkmark button to confirm, or the X button to cancel.
