10 Steps to complete
The Corporate Office portal contains a useful tool known as the Data Manager. The Data Manager allows you to run dSQL queries, in order to view and edit data in tables.
The considerations and risks that must be understood when editing data directly in the database are listed at the end of this article.
Note: This feature is restricted by role and should be made available to those with advanced knowledge of SQL and data management. dSQL is the modified language that Data Manager uses. For more information on using dSQL, see: Using dSQL in Data Manager
To activate the Data Manger, enable the role EditSqlEditor to allow access to edit SQL table data. For more information on Employee Roles, see: Employees Tutorial > Roles
WARNING! There are risks when updating data directly in the database. Please use extreme caution when using this feature.
Risks and considerations when updating data via the database include:
- Bypassing all field validation such as correct formatting and proper data values
- Any automation that needs to happen such as notifications or additional business logic to be run will not happen
- There is not an option to undo changes
- Not all tables and columns are available to be edited for data integrity purposes
For more information on the Data Manager tool, see Administration Tutorial > Data Manager.
In Corporate Office, click the Administration tab.
In the Administration section, click the Data Manager tab in the left sidebar.
You are now in the Data Manager.
In the Data Manager, click the Table Schema button to view a list of all available tables.

In the Table Schema pop-up window, either use the search bar to find a table name, or scroll through the Table Name list. Click the Countries table name.
The Table Schema pop-up window closes and the query is run.
The Countries table displays below the Query box.
You can also use the Query box to input your own SQL and dSQL queries to view and edit tables.
In the Query box, type a valid SQL query statement.
Click the Run Query button.
The Query Results show below in a editable table.
Click the + New Row button to add a new table row.
Click a table row and then click the Delete Row button to delete a table row.
Click the Export button to export the query results in .CSV format.
Click a table cell to make edits.
After you make changes, click the checkmark button to confirm, or the X button to cancel.
These buttons appear in the first column of each row to which you make changes. Changes will not take place in the database until they are confirmed or cancelled.
You now know how to view and edit data in the Data Manager.
