Adjust underlying Sales Numbers and Dates on Dashboard

2

Sales numbers on the system dashboard (new sales, total sales, recurring sales, line chart data) come from the subtotal line of each order aggregated across all orders. The system, however, takes out discounts (e.g. applied coupon codes) after it calculates the subtotal line on the order. Hence, these sales numbers exceed gross revenue because they are calculated prior to the application of coupon codes. This can be a massive head fake when big promotions are going on that are coupon code-driven. For us, it also means we have a separate system we use during the month to track revenue where we peel these discounts out. I'd love for the dashboard to reflect the sum of subtotals net of refunds and discounts from coupon codes such that it's a closer proxy to actual monthly revenue. This might also make invoicing cleaner for clients whose monthly charges are tied to revenues given that it'll just cleanly tie to the number shown.

Also, the line chart shows two lines - one for the current year where it labels each data point as 2020 when you mouse over it and one for last year where it labels each data point as 2019. If I mouse over the current year line to look at October, it shows data labeled as October 2020 (since it just applies 2020 to all current year dates on that line). That month hasn't happened yet, so the data is actually from 2019 but just labeled 2020. Similarly, the last year line shows as October 2019, but it's actually showing data from October 2018.

  • Huntley thank you for this suggestion! We agree that having the sales widgets reflect the money collected, which includes subtracting the order discounts, would give you a better idea of true sales. This change, along with many other improvements to sales widgets and data are in progress now!

Also, in regards to the incorrect year on the sales history line chart hover, this issue has been corrected. Thanks again for your valuable feedback :)
