Birth Date error during retail customer account creation

We're having an issue when a retail customer is routed to our site from an affiliate's URL (type 1).
Basically, that type 1 designation is being carried over to the retail customer. Since type 1 users are required to provide a birth date, that requirement causes an error when a retail customer tries to create an account after being routed to our site through the type 1 user's URL.
We need a way that when a type 1 user is logged in and shares their URL, the type 1 designation is not attached to it and won't affect the customer during account creation.

This feels more like a bug than a feature request. No matter how the replicated site is shared, (via home page, shop page, opportunity page etc.) the customer should have a friction free experience and not have to know that they are only allowed to share certain pages to be able to sign up without error.
