This feels more like a bug than a feature request. No matter how the replicated site is shared, (via home page, shop page, opportunity page etc.) the customer should have a friction free experience...

Agree! And plus one to Huntly's post. Sometimes an item is temporarily OOS and we want to ship the available item out, then ship the back ordered item at a later date.
