Testing Inventory Items

After going through the checklists in the Get Started section and setting up your inventory items, you’ll want to look at your inventory items using a test Associate account to make sure everything is working correctly.

  • Do this on your Live environment.

  • Do this for each of your Stores (mainly Corporate, Wholesale, Retail).

  • Do this for every market you have set up.

  Report any errors you find to Customer Care or your DirectScale contact.

For Corporate Admin

  1. Open the Corporate Shop.

  2. Select each category. The inventory items should all in their appropriate categories.

  3. Search for different SKUs and item names. The queried items should appear on the page.

  4. Inspect the inventory items displayed in the search results. Does everything look as it should?

    • Main image

    • Name

    • Price

    • Volume

    • Reward points (if applicable)

    • Add to Cart/View Details button is clickable

  5. Click Add to Cart. The item should add to the Shopping Cart sidebar

  6. On the Shopping Cart sidebar, click the X to remove the item from the cart. The item should remove from the cart.

  7. Click an inventory items name link. You should navigate to the Product Details page.

  8. Inspect the various areas of the Product Details page.

    • The main image appears.

    • Additional images appear as thumbnails.

    • The thumbnails enlarge, replacing the main image when clicked.

    • The item name appears correctly.

    • The SKU (Product Code) appears correctly.

    • The Availability (In Stock, Out of Stock) is correct.

    • The Price is correct.

    • The Volume is correct.

    • The Options dropdown contains the correct item variations.

    • The Add to Cart button appears and can be clicked.

    • The Description tab contains the correct information and is well-formatted.

    • The Benefits tab contains the pertinent information and is well-formatted.

  9. Click Add to Cart. You should navigate to the Shopping Cart page. The added item should appear in the table.

For Web Office

  1. Open the Web Office Store.

  2. Select each category. The inventory items should all in their appropriate categories.

  3. Search for different SKUs and item names. The queried items should appear on the page.

  4. Inspect the inventory items displayed in the search results. Does everything look as it should?

    • Main image

    • Name

    • Price

    • Volume

    • Reward points (if applicable)

    • Add to Cart button is clickable

  5. Click Add to Cart. The item should add to the Your Order sidebar.

  6. On the Your Order sidebar, click the image:[] icon to remove the item from the cart. The item should remove from the cart.

  7. Click an item. A pop-up should open with the product details.

  8. Inspect the various areas of the product details.

    • The main image appears.

    • Additional images appear as thumbnails.

    • The thumbnails enlarge, replacing the main image when clicked.

    • The item name appears correctly.

    • The price is correct.

    • The volume is correct.

    • The Options dropdown contains the correct item variations.

    • The Add to Cart button appears and can be clicked.

    • The Description and Specifications appear and are well-formatted.

For eCommerce Shop

  1. Open your Test Associate’s eCommerce Shop.

  2. Click the Product > View All Products.

  3. Select each category. The inventory items should all in their appropriate categories.

  4. Search for different SKUs and item names. The queried items should appear on the page.

  5. Inspect the inventory items displayed in the search results. Does everything look as it should?

    • Main image

    • Name

    • Price

    • Reward points (if applicable)

    • Add to Cart and AutoShip buttons are clickable

  6. Click Add to Cart. The item should add to the Order Summary sidebar.

  7. On the Order Summary sidebar, click the X to remove the item from the cart. The item should remove from the cart.

  8. Click an item. You should navigate to the Product Detail page.

  9. Inspect the various areas of the product details.

    • The main image appears.

    • Additional images appear as thumbnails.

    • The thumbnails enlarge, replacing the main image when clicked.

    • The item name appears correctly.

    • The price is correct.

    • The volume is correct.

    • The Options dropdown contains the correct item variations.

    • The Add to Cart button appears and can be clicked.

    • The Product Details and Specifications appear and are well-formatted.

    • Related Products display and are relevant.
